Position Description

Ladysmith & District Credit Union has an exciting opportunity for a talented Assistant Manager, Member Services to join our management team. Reporting to the Manager, Financial Services, the Assistant Manager, Member Services manages the daily operation of the Member Services department, developing each employee to their highest potential through coaching and leadership as well as assisting with the implementation of strategies related to the growth and development of the deposit portfolio. In addition, this position will assist with the development and administration of the department’s budget and business plans, as well as oversee and monitor the effectiveness of all member services programs and products, marketing strategies, and short- and long-term planning activities. Further, the Assistant Manager, Member Services is responsible for administrative duties and the documentation and implementation of all policies and procedures within the Member Services Department. The Assistant Manager, Member Services will provide coaching and direction to employees in order to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality member services and advice, profitable business growth, and compliance with applicable policies and regulations.

Qualifications Required

The ideal candidate will have a post-secondary education in business or a related field as well as 3-5 years of progressive financial experience preferably in the Credit Union system. They will also possess extensive experience with sales activities, estate handling, and branch administrative procedures as they relate to member services. A detailed knowledge of the features and benefits of all Credit Union loan and deposit products or services is necessary. A thorough knowledge of Credit Union policies, procedures, business practices, and regulations is also required.

Completion of CUIC courses related to estates and registered plans are required as well as completion of CUIC 240, Fundamentals of Personal Financial Planning. The incumbent must also be competent with the use of standard computer applications such as word processing (Word), spreadsheets (Excel), and email (Outlook).

The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to provide exceptional member service as well as maintain a professional demeanor when dealing with conflict, complaints, and difficult people. They will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to build positive relationships with members and staff.
